Job Summary
The Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Officer will be responsible for designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation activities, ensuring data quality, conducting program performance analysis, and preparing reports that support organizational learning and accountability.
The officer will work closely with project teams to track progress against targets, document lessons learned, and improve program effectiveness through reliable data management systems.
Key Responsibilities
The MEL Officer will be responsible for:
- Conducting monitoring and evaluation activities for projects and programs.
- Collecting, verifying, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data.
- Preparing periodic monitoring, evaluation, and performance reports.
- Ensuring data quality, accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Maintaining and updating project databases and reporting systems.
- Supporting the development of indicators, data collection tools, and monitoring frameworks.
- Tracking project outcomes and measuring progress against established targets.
- Documenting best practices, success stories, and lessons learned.
- Providing technical support to project staff on data management and reporting.
- Supporting organizational learning and evidence-based planning processes.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as:
- Monitoring and Evaluation
- Statistics
- Economics
- Development Studies
- Social Sciences
- Project Management
- Or a related discipline
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in monitoring, evaluation, data management, or project reporting.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong data collection and analysis skills.
- Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation methodologies.
- Ability to prepare accurate and timely reports.
- Experience using data analysis tools and databases.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
