Teacher Diploma Training Opportunities 2026/2027

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) has officially announced admission opportunities for Teacher Diploma Programmes in Early Childhood Education and Primary Education for the 2026/2027 academic year. The announcement was issued by the Permanent Secretary, Prof. Carolyne I. Nombo, inviting qualified applicants to apply for various teacher training programmes offered in government and non-government teacher training colleges across Tanzania.

Overview of the Programmes

The Ministry is offering the following teacher training programmes:

  • Diploma in Early Childhood and Primary Teacher Education (2 Years)
  • Special Diploma in Primary Teacher Education for Science and Mathematics Subjects (3 Years)
  • Distance Learning Diploma in Early Childhood and Primary Teacher Education (3–4 Years)

These programmes aim to prepare competent teachers who will contribute to improving the quality of education in Tanzania.

Eligibility Requirements

1. Diploma in Early Childhood and Primary Teacher Education (2 Years)

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Form Six graduates with Division I–III and at least two Principal Passes.
  • Teachers who have completed a Certificate in Early Childhood or Primary Teacher Education.

Successful applicants will be assigned to different specializations based on their performance in the National Teacher Education Certificate Examination.

2. Special Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (Science and Mathematics) – 3 Years

Applicants must:

  • Be Form Four graduates with Division I–III.
  • Have obtained at least a grade C or above in three subjects.
  • Two of the three subjects must be among:
    • Basic Mathematics
    • Biology
    • Chemistry
    • Physics
    • Information and Computer Studies
    • Computer Science

3. Distance Learning Diploma in Early Childhood and Primary Teacher Education (3–4 Years)

Applicants must:

  • Be qualified teachers who have completed a Certificate in Early Childhood or Primary Teacher Education.

Teacher colleges wishing to offer distance-learning programmes must comply with the Guidelines for the Delivery of Diploma Programmes in Early Childhood and Primary Teacher Education through Distance Learning (February 2026) issued by the Commissioner for Education.

Primary Education Diploma Programmes

  • Social Sciences (Kiswahili Medium)
  • Social Sciences (English Medium)
  • Social Sciences and Kiswahili Language
  • Science and Mathematics (English Medium)
  • Science and Mathematics (Kiswahili Medium)
  • Languages (English, French, and Chinese)
  • Arts and Sports

Early Childhood Education Diploma Programmes

  • Early Childhood Education (English Medium)
  • Early Childhood Education (Kiswahili Medium)

Special Needs Education Diploma Programmes

  • Special Needs Education (Kiswahili and English Medium)
  • Special Needs Education (Kiswahili Medium)

Special Diploma in Science and Mathematics Education

The programme covers various combinations of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Computer Science teaching specializations.

Application Procedure

Qualified applicants are required to follow the procedures below:

For Government Teacher Training Colleges

Applicants must:

  1. Register and submit applications online through the Ministry’s Teacher College Management System (TCMS).
  2. Access the application portal at:
    https://tcm.moe.go.tz/
  3. Select three preferred programmes or specializations in order of preference.

For Private Teacher Training Colleges

Applicants should:

  • Apply directly to their preferred private teacher training colleges.
  • Receive admission decisions directly from the respective institutions.

Selection Results

Admission results for government colleges will be available from 15 July 2026 through applicants’ online accounts and at the colleges where they have been selected.

Admission instructions will also be available through:

  • The Ministry of Education website
  • The selected teacher training colleges
  • Applicants’ provided postal addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers

Applicants are advised to provide accurate and complete contact information during the application process.
