Chinese Government Scholarships for Tanzania Students 2026/27

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) has announced a call for applications for the prestigious Hunan–Africa Furong Scholarship Programme for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. The scholarship, sponsored by the Government of Hunan Province in the People’s Republic of China, offers fully funded opportunities for qualified Tanzanian students to pursue undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral studies at leading universities in Hunan Province.

This initiative aims to strengthen educational cooperation between China and Africa while providing Tanzanian students with access to high-quality higher education in specialized fields that support national development.

Participating Universities

Successful applicants will study at one of the following universities in Hunan Province, China:

  • Central South University (CSU)
  • Changsha University of Science and Technology (CSUST)
  • Hunan Agricultural University (HUNAU)

Scholarship Benefits

The Hunan–Africa Furong Scholarship provides comprehensive financial support, including:

  • Application fees
  • Full tuition fees
  • On-campus accommodation
  • Monthly living allowance

Monthly Stipend

  • Undergraduate students: RMB 2,000 per month
  • Master’s and Doctoral students: RMB 2,200 per month

Expenses Not Covered

Recipients will be responsible for the following costs:

  • Medical insurance
  • Residence permit fees
  • Registration fees
  • Textbooks
  • Personal expenses

It is important to note that the Government of Tanzania will not provide any additional allowances, loans, or financial top-ups to scholarship beneficiaries.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be citizens of the United Republic of Tanzania
  • Be physically and mentally fit
  • Possess good moral character and have no criminal record
  • Demonstrate strong academic performance
  • Meet the admission requirements of the chosen university and programme

Academic Qualifications and Age Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree Applicants

  • Must possess Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education or equivalent qualifications
  • Must be below 25 years of age

Master’s Degree Applicants

  • Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Must be below 35 years of age

Doctoral Degree Applicants

  • Must hold a Master’s Degree
  • Must be below 40 years of age

Language Requirements

English-Taught Programmes

For CSU programmes:

  • IELTS score of at least 6.0, or
  • TOEFL score of at least 85

For CSUST programmes:

  • TOEFL score of at least 68, or
  • IELTS score of at least 5.5, or
  • Duolingo score of at least 85

Chinese-Taught Programmes

Applicants must possess the required HSK Chinese language qualification as specified by the respective university.

Required Application Documents

Applicants should prepare the following documents:

  • Valid passport with at least one year validity
  • Academic certificates and transcripts
  • Language proficiency certificates (where applicable)
  • Certificate of Good Conduct
  • Foreigner Physical Examination Form
  • Study Plan
  • Self-introduction video (if required)
  • Recommendation letters for postgraduate applicants
  • Additional supporting documents requested by the university

China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA)

Candidates applying for undergraduate programmes are required to sit for the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) and obtain the required scores before admission consideration.

Application Deadline

All applications must be submitted online no later than 12 June 2026.

Admission and Study Commencement

  • Admission results will be announced in July 2026
  • Studies are expected to begin in September 2026
